Dominate All Kinds of Paladin PvP with this Guide
July 19th, 2009 | by Wiiabetes Guest Blogger |Player versus Player (PvP) combat is in your Paladin’s future, even if you’ve avoided it so far. Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK) has brought more advanced, real time battles to the game.
The first real time PvP battle zone is Lake Wintergrasp. In this new zone, players battle on the live server to earn points they can use to buy special items such as the new Heirloom items. These are items that any character in their account regardless of that character’s level can take advantage of.
With Lake Wintergrasp’s high popularity, and the increasing amount of PvP combat in other popular games, you’ll surely see more even more PvP in WoW in the future. So let’s talk about Paladins and PvP:
WoW Paladins are a schizophrenic bunch. On the one hand, they’re almost as good in hand-to-hand combat as Warriors. On the other hand, they can heal themselves and others like Priests do. This schizoid behavior carries over into World of Warcraft Paladin PvP combat, meaning that you really need to understand both sides of your character’s personality to dominate player versus player combat.
A Paladin can play a few different roles in player versus player. In duels, their ability to heal themselves can drive their opponents crazy. If they start out with a high level of mana available, Paladins can use their self-healing abilities to recover from almost any level of damage once or twice. In effect, their healing abilities let them absorb double or even triple the damage you might otherwise expect. This lets them absorb huge amounts of damage and still remain standing. When playing as part of a group, A Paladin will often end up in a support role, fighting when necessary, while also providing bubbles, blessings, heals, and combat aid throughout the battlefield in ways that no other class can do.
But the Paladin class has its downsides too. In the best of circumstances, a Paladin doesn’t have a lot of mana to work with, and when the mana runs out, a Paladin is much less powerful and much more vulnerable to attack. Regardless of the amount of mana they have available, Paladins often find it hard to get close enough to Hunters and Mages to even be able to hit them! Understanding how to make the best use of their limited mana supply, and understanding how to fight against each of the opposing classes is key to Paladin PvP success. As with any class trying to master PvP combat, figuring out what you need to do by trial and error is bloody, frustrating, and time consuming.
Avoiding that time-consuming and bloody stuff is a great reason to invest in a Paladin PvP Guide. A good guide gives you a detailed blueprint for how your character will fight each other class. But it will offer you much more that that. It will teach you just about everything there is to know about fighting and winning with a Paladin in each player versus player situation, whether dueling or, as a member of a party, or in World combat.
