Which Music Game Is Best for Beginners?
August 28th, 2009 | by Wiiabetes Guest Blogger |This has always been a tough decision to have to make ever since the likes of Rock Band game Guitar Hero World Tour came along, which music game is right for you? Now this decision is becoming even harder because both gaming companies are releasing even more games, so here’s a post to explain the range of games you can get on the next-gen consoles.
Guitar Hero 2 is where I’ll begin because this is the first game to be released onto the next generation gaming consoles. Although this is a good game, it only has the guitar career so this one is not a great one for beginners. I would recommend it if you love playing classic songs.
This next one is available for the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3, Guitar Hero 3. Guitar Hero 3 is very similar to Guitar Hero 2 because it’s a very good game, however, you can only play the guitar career. However, this game comes with the best set list out of all of the games, although less songs, but they are all great so it’s a must have for any player.
The next one up is Guitar Hero Aerosmith, however, I will also include Guitar Hero Metallica in this one because they are both band based. Based on what I just said, these games are not brilliant for beginners because you don’t get the range of songs that you would in the normal games. Unless you are a real fan of the band, or a Guitar Hero fan, I wouldn’t recommend buying them.
Guitar Hero World Tour is a very popular one currently because it is the first Guitar Hero to contain all instruments, the mic, drums, bass and guitar. However, I don’t think that it comes with a good set list. It’s full of very old and cheesy songs, although, it is a fun one for the whole family to play.
Now this one is the most recently released game, Guitar Hero Greatest Hits. I do think that this game has to be the best for a beginner player of the entire family. I believe this because the song list is built up from the best songs from Guitar Hero 1,2,3, 80’s and Aerosmith. This means that you get the greatest songs to play, plus you get to play them with the full range of instruments.
Now onto the competition of Guitar Hero, Rock Band. The first game they released, Rock Band 1, was very good, it had a great set list as well as the introduction of the drums which are very well built. The guitar controller that was released with the game was horrible, but the game itself was absolutely brilliant. However, with the release of Rock Band 2 I wouldn’t buy Rock Band 1 as the first game because Rock Band 2 comes with an equally great set list but it comes with added bonuses that the first game doesn’t. Also, with Rock Band 2, if you purchase the first game, you can put all those tracks onto the latest Rock Band 2 game.
The only downside to the Rock Band 2 game is that if you are in Europe, you currently can’t get the improved drum set which features metal pedals as well as several other new features. Note: The new instruments are being released in September with the release of The Beatles: Rock Band.
That’s not all though, Rock Band also has very good amount of songs that you can download. They have hundreds and hundreds of songs that you can download to expand your song list, plus they are all compatible with all the Rock Band games meaning you can play them on any of the games.
However, is Rock Band an ideal game for beginners? I would say that it’s not, however, Rock Band is the best game for an experienced music game player because it has the biggest and most expandable song list.
Aslong as you get all the instruments for the game, I would say that Guitar Hero Greatest Hits is the best music based game for beginners.
